Float Through Mother’s Day: Make Mother's Day unforgettable aboard Wendella's (http://www.wendellaboats.com/chicago.htm) 5th annual Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise on Sunday, May 11. Starting on the Magnificent Mile, the 2-hour cruise begins with an in-depth architecture tour. Discover Mies van der Rohe, Bertrand Goldberg, Daniel Burnham and a host of world-class architects and their creations. After that, it's out to Lake Michigan for music by the Windy City Strings and a buffet provided Marcello’s (http://www.marcellos.com). The tours depart from the Wendella Dock at 400 N. Michigan Ave., at the Wrigley Building. There are two tour times: 10 a.m.-noon or 1:00 PM-3:00 PM. Tickets are $45 per adults, $40 for seniors and $22 for kids. A special gift for the Mom's is included. A cash bar is available. Seating is limited.

Activities are appropriate for all ages, and the day includes refreshments. There are four Experimental Station Activities: at Mysterious Masks, Chicago Humanities Festival and Chicago artist Jeff Simmerling shows you tricks of the trade on how to build awe-inspiring masks. At Silly Swap, use the head of a donkey, bottom of a pig, or tail of a dog to build unique animal sculptures. Building Bags lets you cut, crimp, paste and fold your own funky sack and walk around in style. And finally there’s the 11:30 a.m. reading of The Calder Game, where you can find out how the MCA's collection inspired author Blue Balliet's book.

Don Giovanni for the Masses: Millennium Park will offer a free and live broadcast of Chicago Opera Theater’s (http://www.chicagooperatheater.org/) presentation of Mozart's most beloved opera, Don Giovanni on Friday, May 9. This is a cultural milestone for the city of Chicago, as it’s the first outdoor, large screen, live simulcast presentation of an opera in the city's history. The event takes place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park and is a partnership of Chicago Opera Theater, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, and Millennium Park Inc. An audience of potentially 11,000 viewers will be able to see this contemporary rendition of Don Giovanni live under the stars from both the seats and the Great Lawn of Millennium Park. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
