Happy Mother’s Day! We’re guessing that, since Mom isn’t in charge, you haven’t gotten around to making any plans yet. Bluprint Beer Dinner: Why should wine drinkers get all the fun? Join Bluprint (http://www.bluprintchicago.com/whatsNew.php) and Half Acre Beer Company (http://www.halfacrebeer.com/home.php) on Thursday, May 7, for an exclusive five-course beer dinner. The five course menu is expertly crafted by Chef Sam Burman and perfectly paired with five of Half Acre’s brews, three of which have been specially brewed for the event. Each course will be paired with music provided by Fig Media. Cost $55 per person, excluding tax and tip. The dinner takes place from 7-10 p.m., and reservations required as space is limited.

Free Water Taxis: It’s water taxi season again, and to kick it off Shoreline Water Taxis (http://www.shorelinewatertaxi.com/) is offering free Commuter Taxi rides through Friday, May 15. Ride from Shoreline’s Sears Tower / Union Station dock to Michigan Avenue Bridge between 7 - 9:30 a.m. and 4-6:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Base Commuter Water Taxi fares will start at the reduced price of $1.50 after May 15th. The Sears Tower/Union Station dock is located on the River level at 200 S. Wacker Dr., and the Michigan Avenue Dock is located at 401 N. Michigan Ave., river level of the northeast corner of the Michigan Avenue Bridge. Look for red, white and blue water taxis at either dock or on the river.

Bike Obama Tour: Bobby's Bike Hike (http://www.bobbysbikehike.com)'s newest guided tour totals 20 miles of cycling along the lakefront and in Hyde Park, President Barack Obama's former stomping grounds. After a gorgeous lakefront ride past Buckingham Fountain, Museum Campus, and Soldier Field, your group ends up in the unique splendor of Hyde Park. Once there, your guide will take you to many of the President's regular Chicago spots, stopping to discuss his policies and what influence Chicago had in shaping his ideas. Highlights include the University of Chicago campus, Museum of Science & Industry, Obama's current residence, his barbershop, and where he still plays basketball in Jackson Park. Bring extra money for food at one of Obama's favorite spots in the neigborhood: Valois. Includes bikes and helmets. Daily 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (through September 14) Price: $39.50-$49.50 Reservations required.

What a Mom Wants: And definitely what she needs: complimentary massages at Geja's Café (http://www.gejascafe.com). The fondue hotspot will treat all moms to a complimentary five-minute massage on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. Elise Pensec, a licensed massage therapist will give all mothers a little well-deserved pampering while they dine. The restaurant will open at noon on Mother’s Day.

The Ninth Annual Sketchbook Festival: With the theme “New American Fable,” the Sketchbook (http://www.collaboraction.org) is an annual showcase featuring seven world-premiere plays and seven "devised" works created from submitted concepts, each less than seven minutes apiece. The audience moves freely between performances and can also enjoy live music and visual art. BYOB. Presented through Sunday, May 10. Price: $15-$25; $40 for unlimited-admission pass.
