Shop this fresh new brand and enjoy informal modeling, sweet treats and personal shopping attention to help you capture the hottest spring looks. Enjoy the DJ's tracks and snap a photo of you and your friends in the new BCBGeration/RedEye photo booth. Receive a coupon of $10 off any purchase of $50 or more on BCBGeneration and receive a special gift (while supplies last) with any $150 purchase. The event is held on the 3rd floor from 2-6 p.m.

Caffeine High: It just happens to be the highest café in the world. What is it? Cafe Espression by Lavazza (http://www.hancockobservatory.com/en/Things_to_do/cafe-espression.html), a concept café located at the top of the Hancock Observatory. Here you’ll find world-class Italian espresso and specialties created by world-renowned celebrity chefs. Be sure to try an Espesso, the coffee you can eat (TIME magazine named it one of the best inventions of 2006). The café is open the same hours as the observatory, from 9 a.m. till 11 p.m., on the 94th floor.

Derby at Hawthorne: Churchill Downs may be the big scene, but Chicago can celebrate big time, too, at the Kentucky Derby Party at Hawthorne Race Course (http://www.hawthorneracecourse.com/). The event will feature a weekend of festivities including live music, an outdoor barbecue and beer fest, a charity chili cook-off and tent lounges with dozens of high-definition flat screen TVs. Admission: $50 VIP pass for two (includes admission, program, BBQ and beer package); $4 admission (includes simulcast program).

Battle of the Belgians: It’s not just chanting, the life of the Benedictine monks in Belgium. Sample ales brewed according to the monks’ methods and compare them to American-influenced Belgian-style ales at Jake Melnick’s (http://www.jakemelnicks.com) Belgian-style beer pairing. On Friday, May 1, the Den, Jake Melnick’s private room, will be converted into a Belgian battlefield with three pairing stations where guests can sample and compare the Belgian-style ales, along with dishes designed to complement each beer’s unique flavor. A buffet of beer and accompanying dishes will be set up with Jake’s chef on hand to answer any questions about the pairings. Select beers from Ommegang include Hennepin Saison, Rare Voss, Abbey Ale and Three Philosophers and Maredsous ales include Blonde, Brune and Triple. Each round will be paired with select dishes such as Five Spice Ribs with Molasses Glaze, BBQ Mussels, Eight Cheese Garlic Bread and Dark Chocolate Creme Brulee. Guests can choose their personal round winner and go back for more. $25 per person, 7 p.m.
