Plus, a naturalist from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be showing park videos, providing plant crafts and teaching kids how to use binoculars to distinguish different bird species.
SAIC Runway: The School of the Art Institute will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its annual Fashion Show (http://tinyurl.com/saicfs) in the School's recently opened Sullivan Galleries on Friday, April 24. For the first time, the Fashion Show will be presented within the installed space of SAIC's annual Graduate Exhibition, creating a vibrant relationship between the work of the School's graduating artists, designers and fashion students. More than 200 innovative garments will be showcased during this multimedia celebration of creative clothing and contemporary art, which will also feature specially commissioned works by students and faculty from the School's Performance department. Catch one of two shows: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets $75.

Latino Film Fest: It’s the silver anniversary of Latino films on Chicago’s silver screen. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Chicago Latino Film Festival (http://www.latinoculturalcenter.org/cinema-festival/index.php), a program that has grown from 500 attendees in 1985 to more than 35,000 in 25 years. The festival, and its parent International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago, aims to challenge oversimplified, mainstream standardized images of Latino identity by demonstrating that Latinos are defined by more than 20 different nationalities and come from diverse racial and social backgrounds. See more than 100 short, animated, documentary and feature films from the U.S., Argentina, Portugal, Spain, Mexico and more explore stereotypes, politics, sex, race and social issues. Highlights this year include gay-themed works such as "Hermaphrodite" and films by local and women directors, including Victoria Cervantes' short film "Rudy Lozano." Most films are screened in Spanish with English subtitles. While the festival is noncompetitive, the public who attend the Festival can choose their favorite feature film and award the Audience Choice Award. Price: $8-$10 per screening; $70-$100 for festival pass. Various locations; ends April 30.

Kids can get active with Ronald and his "Get Movin' with Ronald McDonald" show at the Family Pavilion stage (showtimes 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) Plus, visit Ronald McDonald and McDonald's booth for meet & greets at the free Diabetes Expo in Festival Hall A, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Ronald McDonald will be at McDonald's booth at 12:15 p.m. and again at 2:30 p.m.
