Three Times the Romance: Trying to make this year’s holiday one to remember? There are three easy but elegant ways to romanticize your valentine. At Bluprint (http://www.bluprintchicago.com), the lights are going out and the candles will glow at Chicago's largest candlelight dinner. Enjoy a three-course prix-fixe menu for $39 and be entered to win a romantic evening for two in Millennium Park.
Or, head straight to the park – Park Grill (http://www.parkgrillchicago.com), that is, where you’ll enjoy a special a la carte Valentine’s Day menu while enjoying floor-to-ceiling views of Millennium Park.
Toast your love with $12 glasses of Veuve Clicquot.
At Rhapsody (http://www.rhapsodychicago.com), stay in tune with your Valentine while you celebrate with a three-course prix-fixe menu, including optional paired wines by Sommelier Arif Rahman.
Diners will receive an “amuse bouche” - a small Valentine’s treat from us to you!
$55 per person/$75 per person with paired wines.
Family Time Valentine: Sure, Valentine’s Day is usually a really good excuse for a date night and a babysitter. But your kids are the loves of your life, too, so give them the treat of family time – and support a good cause in the meantime. Be My Valentine (http://www.lynnsage.org) takes place at the Ritz-Carlton on Sunday, Feb. 8. The fun-filled event will feature Valentine activities for kids, and a special concert by award-winning children’s musician Justin Roberts. Plus, win fabulous prizes from the silent auction and raffle. The event’s hours run 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tickets are $70 for adults and $40 for children and benefit Lynn Sage Cancer Research.
Rod Blagojevich Superstar!: Ripped from the headlines…sort of. Second City Theatricals presents “Rod Blagojevich Superstar!” (http://www.secondcity.com/?id=theatres/chicago/etc) at The Second City e.t.c. The show is a pastiche of 70’s rock operas, most notably the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Weber classic “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Except in this case, Jesus and Mary Magdalene have been replaced by Rod and Patti Blagojevich; and the apostles have turned into the likes of Roland Burris, Patrick Fitzgerald, Dick Mell and Lisa Madigan. As SC itself puts it, “’Rod Blagojevich Superstar!’ is what happens when talent and producers drink too much at the Second City holiday party, begin to brainstorm ideas and decide to write, compose and open a show in 2 weeks.” Tickets are $14.00.
Dream Date: All the single ladies – and men – gather round for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation 18th Annual Dream Date Auction (https://www.kintera.org/site/apps/ka/rg/ecreg.asp?c=jkLTJ6MSKvH&b=4865475&en=6eIKKQOjHcIILHNjF6LILNPjH7JEIUMEJhIFLNOoE9LOJTP uEgLOI7J). The evening at the Park West begins at 6 p.m. with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, and during this time guests can mingle and take their chances on the package they hope to win in the Dreamer’s Draw Raffle. At 7:15 p.m. the live auction begins and features prominent bachelors and bachelorettes who have created packages full of opportunities, including international getaways, exclusive sports experiences and VIP trips. An After Party begins when iPop takes the stage. Note: Must be 21 or older to attend. Price: $55-$100.
Love YOU: Hearts are everywhere this month, but when was the last time you thought about yours? It is, after all, National Heart Month (http://www.prettycity.com/love/#IL). To promote this, spas and salons throughout Chicago offer $59 beauty services daily (through February 28). These services include hot stone massages, facials, laser hair removal, Botox treatments and more. Hours vary per location.
