New Year on Parade: It’s a tradition that gains popularity each year: the Chinese New Year Parade (http://www.chicagochinatown.org/cccorg/home.jsp). On Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m., celebrate the Year of the Ox at this spectacle featuring a 100-foot-long dragon float and the traditional Chinese lion dance. The parade begins at Wentworth Avenue and 24th Street, then heads north on Wentworth to Cermak Road.

Monty Python’s Spamalot: What better subject for a musical than lunch meat and medieval times? The legendary Richard Chamberlain stars as King Arthur in the return of Eric Idle and John Du Prez's Tony Award-winner for Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot (http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/shows_dyn.php?cmd=display_current&display_showtag=spamalot09), which includes three songs from the 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." The show is directed by Mike Nichols. Showing at the Auditorium Theatre through Sunday, Feb. 1.

Black History at Navy Pier: Kick off Black History Month this weekend at Navy Pier (http://www.navypier.com/cal_events/bhm.html). During this time, the Pier celebrates notable African-Americans in a walk-through gallery experience in Crystal Gardens, including a special tribute to the First African-American President of the United States, Barack Obama. Explore modern history at the commemorative Learning Laboratory with the highlights of the historic 2008 presidential campaign. Free Admission. Signs of Spring: Signs of a warmer season are in the air at the Garfield Park Conservatory. The Spring Flower Show (http://www.garfield-conservatory.org/shows.htm) opens Saturday, Jan. 31 and will feature colorful bulbs, annuals, perennials, and flowering shrubs. The show spotlights more than 800 azaleas over three months, including some descended from the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The second half of the show headlines more than 400 hydrangea in white, pink and blue. This is a show sure to banish your winter blues. The Spring Flower Show is free and open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
