Happy New Year! Since resolutions don’t kick in for a few more hours, and you might have lingering procrastination tendencies, check out ConciergePreferred.com (http://www.conciergepreferred.com/host_cities/1-chicago/events/) for some terrific last-minute options to ring in 2009. And no matter how you celebrate, we wish you all the best for a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!

Winter Wonderfest Wanes: This is the final weekend for Navy Pier’s annual Winter Wonderfest (http://www.winterwonderfest.com/). Attractions and entertainment fill more than 170,000 square feet of indoor family fun. Free admission, but a wristband purchase is required for rides and activities. New lower prices this year, plus free parking with the purchase of a family pack. Daily giveaways of the American Girl Doll of the Year and Tyco Turbo Pro Cycle Wheelie. You can also enter to win air transportation on American Airlines to Montego Bay. Family-friendly entertainment will be featured throughout the day, and there are plenty of dining options within Navy Pier.

Midnight Yoga: You vowed to try something new this year. Stick to it on Friday, Jan. 2 and check out the Midnight Yoga session at Bloom Yoga Studio (http://www.bloomyogastudio.com) (which technically goes from 10:30 p.m. - 12 a.m.) The invigorating candlelight yoga class will be accompanied by live music. This class explores the connection between movement, music, and breath and is a great way to refresh your yoga practice. The class will be followed by wine and cheese. Price: $20.

The Santaland Diaries: Spend one final holiday-filled weekend, but with an ironic twist. The Santaland Diaries (http://www.theatrebuildingchicago.org/nowplaying_details.php?show_id=185&PHPSESSID=ed53e6f1d935a0c09df8e8a243e77e6c) is David Sedaris’ sardonic tale of working as an Elf at Macy’s. The show has returned for its fifth season and stars Mitchell Fain. Showing at the Theatre Building Chicago on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. (ends January 3), and Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. (ends January 3). Tickets $22-$24.

Free Fitness Week: Vowing to get in shape in the New Year is cliché, but with good reason. The Chicago Park District wants to give you a leg up in your resolution this year by offering Free Fitness Week (http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/resources/fitness_centers/index.html) From January 2-16, you are invited to visit one of the 60 fitness centers located in Chicago parks and work out on treadmills, cross trainers, stationary bikes, weights and more, or in classes such as kickboxing, Pilates, yoga and aerobics. Sign up for a winter membership ($40-$75) and get a free workout bag. For a complete list of participating locations, visit http://chicagoparkdistrict.com.
