Fashion Freedom: Have you ever wanted to enjoy an elegant night on the town, but didn’t feel like dressing up for the part? This weekend, celebrate fashion freedom, at The Redhead Piano Bar (http://www.redheadpianobar.com/ (http://www.redheadpianobar.com)) during their Dress Code Independence Days July 3-5. Break free from those uncomfortable suits and toe-numbing stilettos and liberate yourself! For the first time in Redhead history, T-shirts, sneakers, jeans, and flip-flops are all welcome. So let your hair down, grab your favorite worn T-shirt and enjoy the live music and tasty cocktails at no charge (as always) at The Redhead Piano Bar.

Prairie Home Companion at Ravinia Festival: Fireworks and grilling are patriotic pastimes, but so is “A Prairie Home Companion” with host Garrison Kiellor, playing at the Ravinia Festival (http://www.ravinia.org/ (http://www.ravinia.org)) July 5. Keillor's famous variety show hosts folk musical acts interspersed with famous guest performers and recurring character segments such as "Guy Noir," a Private Detective, and "Letters from Lake Wobegone," a narrative of small-town America, all of which are accented by light-hearted, family-friendly wit. The live broadcast at Ravinia is the last before a summer hiatus, and also the final time Keillor will be performing anywhere near Chicago for the foreseeable future, so get your tickets while you can.

Tour de Food: Brasserie Jo (http://www.brasseriejo.com/ (http://www.brasseriejo.com)) proves that the Tour de France can be completed with a glass of wine and escargot in hand. July 5-17, the esteemed French restaurant will be celebrating the grueling bike race of more than 3,500 kilometers by serving food and wine from each different region the riders travel through (Britany, Loire, Auvergne, Pyrenees, Alpes, Burgundy and Paris). From the starting gunshot until the last yellow jacket, Brasserie Jo will display the race on their flat-screen TVs while dishing out duck leg confit, ashed goat cheese, steak frites, and steaming apple crepes. The restaurant is decorated with an antique bike display, a Lance Armstrong-signed jersey, and each guest is invited to guess the winner of each leg of the race to be entered for a chance to win a new bike from Kozy's Cyclery. Alors, bon appétit!

Pyro Power: No Fourth of July celebration is complete without voluminous amounts of fill-the-sky fireworks (www.cityofchicago.org/fireworks (http://egov.cityofchicago.org/city/webportal/portalContentItemAction.do?0&contentOID=536994315&contenTypeName=COC_EDITORIAL&topChannelName=SubAgency&entityName=Taste+of+Chicago&deptMainCategoryOID=-536895091&blockName=Special+Events/Taste+of+Chicago/Content&context=dept)). There will be two fireworks displays taking place: the first at Grant Park July 3. Independence Eve Festivities begin at 8 p.m. with a performance by the Grant Park Orchestra at the Petrillo Music Shell. Then, at 9:31 p.m., the City of Chicago and 101.9 The Mix radio station, present a fireworks extravaganza choreographed with tunes from popular artists including Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Lenny Kravitz, Good Charlotte, and many more. The fireworks will conclude at approximately 9:50 p.m. Then, on Friday, July 4, the Navy Pier fireworks spectacular will take place at 9:30 p.m. with a simultaneous show happening in Grant Park.
