The Festival of Rights March Against the War
Be prepared to route your guests and clients differently.
An organization has secured a permit to conduct a demonstration on Wednesday evening, March 19, 2008, that will affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic in our district.
The Festival of Rights March Against the War will begin to assemble at 6:00 p.m. at the Dirksen Federal Plaza (230 South Dearborn). The march will step off at 7:00 p.m. and proceed
- West on Adams to Clark Street,
- then northbound on Clark to Wacker Drive,
- eastbound on Wacker Drive in the westbound lanes to Michigan Avenue,
- northbound on Michigan in the southbound traffic lanes to Oak;
- westbound on Oak to Washington Square Park, and
- disband by 8:00 p.m.
The number of marchers is uncertain, but due to political events in the news and projected warmer weather, a significant crowd may participate.
There will be street closures along the route and streets will be opened as soon as possible.
Building security should remain vigilant and move to a forward position within their buildings and be available to sign court complaints in the event there is an arrest on private property relative to this march.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to police officers or by calling 911.
